James T. Foley

Jim Foley joined Ridge & Downes in June of 2016 after spending over 23 years representing the interests of those injured due to the negligence of others.  Jim has represented injured railroad employees since 1994.  He has successfully tried cases in the State of Illinois and in State and Federal Court in Kentucky, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Jim attended high school at Quigley North, graduated with an undergraduate degree from Loyola University and received his law degree from the John Marshall Law School.  Jim is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and in Federal District Court in the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois; Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin; Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio; Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan; Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky; Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa; Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; District of Nebraska; District of Colorado; District of Minnesota; and the 6th and 7th Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals.  Early on in his legal career, Jim served an internship with the Director of Public Prosecution in the Republic of Ireland.

Outside the office, Jim enjoys spending time on the water, both liquid and frozen.  He has played hockey for the past 50 years and has chased fish for longer than that, occasionally with success.
